Remember recent quick seachs

Post by vicsharx » Wed Mar 14, 2018 11:34 am

I find myself typing the same again and again even I'm only using a few filters, jpg, TIF etc for example image types. It would be time saving if it can remember the recent searches.
This would be similar to other programs, each time you click the search box a list appears underneath with recent searches.

How? I mean for example when I only want to see the JPG I write JPG in the filter box
I don't see any way to save this in XnView MP
I is not practical to save it to a doc, for example, as the copy paste operation is longer than writing down the 3 letters.

Yes, nearly all search boxes have history, including the one in this forum top right. When you click twice it appears.

Is possible to get the beta? I think this issue has been already solved in the beta 0.91 but I can not find any way to download it.

I have noticed a couple of problems that reduce the usefulness of the implementation:
It we type over the last search will remember in the same session. If we use the X button won't. Typically you would use the X button.
It won't remember searches between sessions, they are cleared when we close the program

there is a small button with a small x in the right of the search field. If you use this button will delete the history for that entry.

I was wrong. I know already exactly what is the problem.
You need to use enter or it won't store it in the history. Because the filter works automatically when typing without using enter it is likely some people won't store the search in history.
That is fine as long you know what is going on, in any case it would make no sense to store everything your type unless you commit to it with enter.
