In the categories pane if you select a category plus a rating for filtering, no files are shown.
It is working with rating plus color label.

If I select...
- two or more categories, "Match,any" or "Match, all" will be applied, according to the choice selected in Match menu.
- a category and a rating, "AND" is always applied , (even if "match,any" is selected). It's a logical method.
- a category and a color "AND" is always applied . Logical also
- a rating and a color "AND" is always applied . ( "OR" could be another choice, but is there anyone who will use it ?)
- two or more ratings, "OR" is always applied . Logical . ( If a category is added, we get : cat and (rating1 or rating2) )
- two or more colors, "OR" is always applied . Logical .

no problem for me, except that the "match" menu doesn't explain.
- "Match" selection is applied only on categories . (cat1 AND/OR cat2) according to the choice "all" / "any"
- OR is always applied in ratings ( rating1 OR rating2) . Same for colors (color1 OR color2)
- if categories and ratings are selected, AND is alaways used between groups (cat1 AND/OR cat2) AND (rating1 OR rating2) AND (color1 or color2)

category+rating works for me

Weird. I have jsut tried it again and it is not working. Here is what I am doing:

1. Select a folder.
2. In categories pane set match drop down to "All" and "Current folder (Recursive)"
3. Select 1 category
4. Check that there are results with rating displayed
5. Select a rating from categories pane with STRG pressed

Result: No more files getting displayed.

If I add a color marking with STRG pressed, then results show properly rated files with color markings.

Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem with "Current folder"

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.89. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Version V0.89
When we select "Match" Current folder , or Current folder recursive,
Category + rating = working properly
Category + color label = working properly
Tag + category = working properly


But if we select Match, Global, result is always 0 images.
The bug remains in this case.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.90. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

We can select many items and wait for result : It's ok
But all items must be un-selected before trying to select other items, otherwise the selected items will mix a little.
