MacOS: GPS Degrees Do Not Show When Printing

Post by rgbr »

Hi, XnViewMP is a great program that we started using a lot today. However, we notice that the degrees sign (º) does not show correctly when printing. Is there a way to fix this? Please see the attached screen grab.

Thanks!

It's the font issue. Change your font to one that supports that symbol.

You can use BabelMap. Download link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/babelmap.html. Their website seems to be down, so choose "Download@MajorGeeks". It's a free, fast, "onefiled" portable and open source app. Run it, enter menu Font, then Font coverage, select either:
  • first box (code point), enter 00B0
  • second box (all characters in text), turn on num keyboard, press left alt and while holding it, enter 0170, then release alt - it's how one gets degree symbol in Windows
Then press Calculate Font Coverage. You'll get the list of fonts with such symbol.

Thanks for getting back to me. I neglected to mention I'm on a Mac, but your info is enough to help me figure it out. Appreciated!
