0.39: Show or hide Info pane

Post by Karl02 »

Suggestion: There should be a menu entry and a keyboard shortcut to show or hide the Info pane.

Now there is View > Tree pane > Show, but not View > Info pane > Show.

Show button for Info Pane

Post by Karl02 »

In "Main menu > View > Info Pane" I'm missing a "Show" button like in "Main menu > View > Data Pane". And perhaps a default shortcut would be useful.

Tested with XnViewMP version 0.75 beta2 (2015-06-06) win32 and 0.72 (2014-12-19) win32 on Windows 7 64 bit SP1.

Confirmed: There's a toolbar button for cmd_infoShow, and you can toggle visibility of the Info pane from the context menu of the menu/tool/title bars, but the command is missing in the main menu.

You right right-click in the info pane and uncheck everything in it. This will hide the info pane.

0.84: Menu entry "View»Info pane»Show" missing

Post by helmut »

XnView: MP 0.84
OS: Windows 10 - 64bit

When hiding the Info pane it's hard to find a way to show the info pane, again. There is no menu entry in the menu structure for showing/hiding the info pane.

Effect: Unintuitive user interface

To reproduce:
1. In XnView browser, close all info panes using the small [x].
2. Try to show the info pane by using a menu item in View » Info pane.
Actual behaviour (bug): There is no way to show the info pane using the menu, again.
Expected behaviour: There should be a menu item to show/hide the complete info pane.

3. Move the mouse cursor onto the toolbar and right click to open the context menu.
4. Select "Info" to display the info pane, again.

Thank you for the link, XnTriq. I even found another topic and just merged them all into this one.

+ this
Info pane collapsible to tabs only
http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.p ... 13#p136513
Usually this is achieved by double click on tabs or on empty space below (vertical) tabs.

O.k., thank you, I can also reproduce the problem. Issue 1097 is fixed in next version.

This issue was on my list to maybe-report-sometime.
I just tested with 0.85 beta 1, and it seems to work well now. XnViewMP is realy getting full-grown :D
The info pane can now be toggled with menu View, Info pane, Show.

What I would suggest is to replace the icon in front of Show in the submenu with a ckeckbox that is eighter marked or unmarked.
On my low contrast laptop screen I can hardly notice the change of the icon when it changes from toggled off to on. Checkboxes are used for all the other pane off/on options as well.
But that's just my opinion...
EDIT: I see now that the Data pane Show option works the same, without checkbox. So maybe that's how it should be.

The current toggle state is really a bit hard to see. Perhaps something can be done about this. Would be good if you (HanVroon) created a seperate bug report for this.
