I have placed a similar DDS texture on my website,
it is rarred to conserve space.

Just resize the original 8K DDS file (50% for example), save it into DDS format, and reload the smaller DDS file again !!

The file is rather big , 16384 x 8192 x 32 bit, all together something like 87 MB. I will rar the file (compressed to 28 MB) and put it on my personal webspace. Alternatively I can also look for a smaller file with the same problem. its URL is: http://members.home.nl/ramekers/Earth.rar . Just readin...

Writing DDS image format has major errors
the latest version can read DDS (type DXT1) OK , but saving the same image
in DDS DXT1 format gets data (colors) all scrambled up.

I agree totally, that is exactly why it is far more difficult to do then 24 bit RGB, but still I think it would be very nice to be able to display such images and do some manipulations (scaling , filtering and such) without losing the high pixel-depth resolution; saving of the resulting image would ...

I use that package in my work very often. Unfortunately it can't (yet) deal with JPG2000 images at all. Just PNG,JPG,T...

writing DDS file with alpha -channel
Hello XNviewers, I have a question about XNVIEW reading & writing DDS files. Normally this goes well, but when the DDS file contains the fourth layer (alpha channel) saving of the DDS only seems to save the first 3 layers (RGB ?) . Reading the DDS file shows that the alpha-channel is correctly read ...
