7z.dll
XnView 2.36 or older contains an AddOn/7z.dll vintage 2006. With this DLL XnView can show the content of a 7-zip archive using the icons of the associated programs. It cannot open the individual files (images) in this archive on my Windows 7 x64 box. :bug: For comparison, the same images in a ZIP ar...

Cannot save 48 bits SGI as PNG or FLIF
My first test with XnViewMP 0.79: Parkjoy frame 200 (a 48bits RGB SGI): Counting colors apparently works, more than 1,400,000. Save as FLIF failed, the result was an empty file (0 bytes) after some minutes. Save as PNG also failed, I got a 24bits PNG instead of a 48bits PNG. And apparently no PNG op...

Re: WebP support (2 issues)
attached WebP file can't be decoded Classic 2.36 with the MP 0.79 webp.dll hates it, the Babelsoft Media Preview hates it (based on a vintage 2014 FFMpeg libav), and WebP 0.5.0 dwebp.exe also hates it: Decoding of DSCN2350.WEbP failed. Status: 7(NOT_ENOUGH_DATA) It appears to be seriously broken.

Re: WebP support
it doesn't recognize webp as type it can handle, which doesn't mean it really can't. Makes sense, and that could be an ordinary bug. FWIW there's a RIFF string in the XnViewShellExt64 binary, but no VP8 for WEBPVP8 or WEBPVP8L. http://encode.ru/threads/2321-FLIF-Free-Lossless-Image-Format?p=47877&v...

Re: PNG optimization
compression effect is weak even with "-s2" Apparently a moving target, you found a version 06.04.2016, I had a version 0.2.1 linked on 2016-03-20. The news for the 2016/04/19 : Update claim that ECT was buggy before 2016-04-06, IOW, I've deleted my old copy with extreme prejudice. Likewise I don't ...

Re: WebP support
webp lossless is great, it compresses a lot better than png Two examples, FFmpeg rgbtestsrc, a simple RGB image to spot RGB confusions, PNG: 737 bytes, VP8L (WebP lossless): 134 bytes. Something with DPX and XnView is wrong, it shows RGB as BGR, 302 KB, certainly more than 134 bytes. 8) Clear1x1, a...

Re: 4 thumbnails not working
It simply does not work. Your one thumbnail instead of four with XnView beats my "no thumbnail at all" with Media Peview for a Big Buck Bunny WEBM, but one day later I saw that I got a VP9 from YouTube: VP9 is new, the FFmppeg libav in Media Preview presumably does not yet support it. After some mi...

Re: *** German translation - Deutsche Übersetzung [German]
FTP-Dialog: Passive mode ist englisch. ...

Re: How to increase history / listing of rename templates
Remotely related observation: The sections in a BAR-file like XnView/default.bar begin with a count= n line followed by button 1 =0 or similar up to button 57 =56 for the last pre-defined action 56 Delete . I determined the pre-defined actions by trial and error up to count= 60 with button 60 =-1 , ...

Re: 4 thumbnails not working
Inspired by this thread I checked that commons has the Big Buck Bunny, and in fact they have an 93 MB medium bitrate OGV (Ogg Video) created six years ago with ffmpeg2theora. Because that might be not state of the art (wrt video format conversions) I also checked what YouTube "offers for download" w...

Re: BUG: XnView browser always auto selects first item...
- now the first item gets auto selected ACK, got it now (or rather weeks ago, but I just figured out how to find undead forum threads where I posted something.) This bug could be a feature, i.e., something always must have the focus, and without other clues "something" boils down to "first thing". ...

Re: SVG support via rsvg-convert.exe
it doesn't seem there is any interest in implementing that either way. ;). New version (not yet tested) 2.40.13 . But BPG is still at 0.9.6, with an allegedly obsolete libpng, and no known example with an ICC color profile working for me. FFMpeg 3.0 still doesn't support BPG at all, now I wonder if...

Re: [v2.24] Can't view picture when inside an archive
This is what is installed by XnView.ini by default: [Start] Filter0=639 Filter1=895 Filter2=589 Filter3=287 ACK, I have the same values in an XnView.INI [Start] section for 2.35 on Windows 7 64-bits, Windows 2000, and in a XnViewPortable installation working under W2K and Windows 7. Radical idea, i...

Re: Double-clicking on OpenEXR file has no effect
I think I found and fixed the root cause of this issue with regedit . When explorer suggests to open a file extension with something it uses the HKCR\Applications, that is HKCR\Applications\XnView.exe\shell\open\command value (RegSZ) "C:\Program Files (x86)\XnView\xnview.exe" "%1", where the path de...

Re: A Windows Metafile .wmf bug?
IE 9 Ditto IE11 after I've upgraded IE9. Oddly IE11 cannot display the other example drawing.wmf , it shows a broken image icon. IE11 can display the Image0.emf attached to the emz XnView crash thread, but so far I found nothing that can handle the obscure EMZ in this thread. In practice I've never...
