You don't need that. You need to install libpng12.

Just another "Grayscale with alpha" PNG... where all information is in alpha channel.

Re: error opening file - (file included)

XnView supports 32-bit in BMP.

0x36 is the correct size of the BMP header (54 bytes).

You can see it in the Example 1 in that article:

Re: error opening file - (file included)

Byte 0x000A in this file is 0x3A, which is incorrect. It should be 0x36.

Change it to 0x36 and you will be able to open the file in XnView.

Not all PNG files are recognized as valid PNG

Step 1. Disable libmng.dll plugin.

Step 2. Try open these two PNG files in XnView.

Result: Only the first one is recognized. XnView cannot open the second image.

Re: Fails to detect 32 bit depth

Both are valid PNG files, but there are 5 PNG image types:

First image is color type 6 (RGBA) and second image is color type 4 (GA).

XnView is known for having trouble displaying "type 4" files correctly.

Re: Fails to detect 32 bit depth

Yeah, we have been complaining about grayscale+alpha PNGs for years.

Even worse when it's APNG in grayscale+alpha... Then XnView cannot even recognize the file format as PNG.

Re: Lossless compression for WebP format

They released a bunch of new features in November, but only in "experimental" branch:

I would suggest to wait for the next official release (probably 0.1.4)
