Re: Tagging (categories)

Yes. This is how gThumb and F-Spot do tag autocompletion, and it's much faster to tag many images with those apps than with XnView MP, using the keyboard. Already there. Use the Categories Pane (F9 to switch focus from/to it) and write down „vacantion”[enter]„kids”[enter]„2017”[enter] F9 doesn't wo...

Tagging currently sucks

I think the tagging system is outdated and should get a major overhaul. Agree. Please see my suggestion for making tagging much simpler for the vast majority of users . 3. When opened, there should be option select one or even multiple categories by mouse but way more efficient would be an addition...

Having both Keywords and Categories is unnecessarily complic

Do we loose [sic] users more than we gain if we change „categories” to „keywords”? You lose users by having unnecessary complexity. How many users genuinely need a difference between "categories" and "keywords"? I consider myself a power user (worked as a software eng. at Google and Yahoo!, have be...

Create a new tab with the mouse

In Chrome, I can create a new tab by clicking with the mouse to the right of the last tab. In other tab-based application, I can right click on an empty space in the tab strip and choose New Tab. Or double-clicking creates a new tab. Can XnView do the same please? Thank you. UPDATE: actually, how do...

How can I *easily* manage tags, like in F-Stop?

On my Android, I use an awesome app for photo management, F-Stop . It makes it super easy to tag photos (has autocomplete, a list of tags to choose from, when tagging multiple images it suggests tags that already exist in some of the images etc.) and it saves the tags in XMP format within the JPG, s...

Can't manage categories from the Properties dialog

I have an image with XMP data written by the excellent Android photo management app F-Stop. When I open that image in XnView MP on Linux, then right click, choose Properties and go to the Categories tab, I can't add or remove any of the categories. The UI suggests checkboxes could be checked or unch...

Redirect newsgroup.xnview.com to forum.xnview.com

Looks like the two URLs point to the same content, but it would be less confusing and an SEO advantage to redirect one to the other. I.e. going to newsgroup.xnview.com should to redirect the user to forum.xnview.com. I work at Google and I'm suggesting this because it would improve search rankings a...

Re: Delete action doesn't delete file?

2+ years later, I have the same problem with XnViewMP 0.83 on Ubuntu - if Use Recycle Bin is enabled, deletion does nothing, silently. I spent a good half hour cleaning up a large directory of pictures, only to find out none were deleted. The files were on an NTFS partition, if that helps. Af...

Crash within 5 minutes after installing

I've just installed the latest 64-bit DEB, and wanted to remove the GPS information from one JPG. Loaded the image, went to File -> Format settings -> Write -> JPEG, unchecked "Keep EXIF", saved as. The image was in a folder with less than 50 files. XNView MP didn't show the new image, then its wind...

[DOS] opening too many images with external program

I was viewing the images in a folder and had them all selected (426 images) in order to perform a batch operation. Before performing the batch operation, I wanted to open one of the images in an external viewer, to double-check some EXIF value. So I right click that image, and clicked Open With -> A...

Re: what is XnView MP?!

After one year, again,

WHAT IS XnViewMP ?!

I went to the main page to download XnView, and saw XnViewMP. WHAT IS IT?

Please say on xnview.com what XnViewMP is, and how it's different from XnView.

"Rebuild thumbnails" doesn't do anything.

An existing thumbnail can also be rebuilt or reoriented without other program: Browser menu>Edit>Metadata>Recreate EXIF thumbnail (lossless) (saving) I have a similar problem: thumbnails not being rotated, while the image is. This happened after running PTLens on the image. I right clicked the imag...

Re: what is XnView MP?!

You means the difference between XnView & XnViewMP? That would be useful too. What I see right now on the main page is: XnView (v1.97/1.70) is an efficient multimedia viewer, browser and converter. XnViewMP beta 0.21 for MacOSX/Linux/Windows XnView Pocket (v1.40) is an efficient image viewer, brows...

what is XnView MP?!

This may seem like a stupid question, but for a new user who goes to http://www.xnview.com/en/index.html , it's not clear at all what "XnView MP" is. I had to navigate around the forums for a few minutes until I figured out it what it meant. Please, on the main page, add a brief description of what ...
