Re: Free size of thumbnails

Someone please en-light me as to what the thumbnail ratio would do ? AFAIK Thumbnails are strictly using the original image ratio. (and I fail to see any good reason why anyone would want to change that, cropped thumbnails ?) Perhaps are you talking about the "thumbnail cell" which is conveniently s...

Re: 0.53: The width of the foldername field

would it not occur to any of you that the texfield content plays a major role here...
none of the screenshots shows a usability issue (path cropped).
I don't see no problems.

Re: [0.61] Folders icon in XnView MP and Classic differ

The truth is, the bigger folder are actually more easily identified as being folder not containing any thumbs. I suspect that the problem is that by using xnview for a while, you trained your brain at finding the logic in it's flawed way of displaying the folders. I understand that it makes you reac...

Re: [0.61] Folders icon in XnView MP and Classic differ

I'd say the way xnviewMP displays it, is the correct way.
I see no reason why the folder representation itself should change.

Re: Request: please enable some tools in view mode.

But why not just give a menu item like XnView classic, I used to press Ctrl+U and Shift+Delete, and now none of them lefted in XnViewMP. Ok, i'll add 'Batch convert' in view mode I suppose having ctrl+u working in view mode isn't a problem. But I still fail to understand the purpose of opening batc...

Re: Reqst: Integer Thumb Tiling/Autofit thumbs

Good point. Exactly.
Though id be curious to know why would someone prefer to use the "old" method (thumbs not fitting the view).
performance perhaps ?

Re: Reqst: Integer Thumb Tiling/Autofit thumbs

Mhh, seems weird to have "fit" to be a button you'd need to push every time the browse pane is resized. imo it should a be either a toggle button or an option in the settings that once turned on: make the thumb size slider behaves like a step slider ranging from 1 thumb per row to 50 or whatever (yo...

Re: Re-re-re-thinking thumbnails

I'm not sure having the thumbnail cell re-sized every time the browser window is re-sized will be much faster :)
I still believe this would look way better this empty space sitting at the end of each row is something that bothered me since xnview exist

I vote Yes for all points.

Re: PngOptimizer (Freeware)

The changes seem very minor again. new: multithreaded optimization for faster processing on multi new: better optimization in some cases of greyscale images misc: updated ZLib 1.2.5 to 1.2.7 (compression library) Why not use zopfli ? Then the author could finally beat PNGOUT and OPTIPNG :-) I suppo...

jpeg 2000 decoding performance

I know that some comparison can be unfair. I don't often deal with jpeg2000 files but I recently had to work with some old book scans (appears not uncommon for librarians to rely on this formats when scanning their collection). and much to my surprise, it appeared that xnview/xnviewMP took a very ve...

Re: OpenEXR incorrect gamma and missing alpha

I suppose the use alpha for thumbnail is something I can live with... as the viewer gives more control. in any case, if additional functionality for how thumbnail uses the alpha was to be implemented IMO this is not something that should be generic or even file format base but rather thumbnail based...

Re: OpenEXR incorrect gamma and missing alpha

for previews/view mode just hit ctrl+h (or "view" > "use alpha channel") ctrl+M (or "view" > "show alpha") is quite handy too... now that's actually feature richer than Bridge isn't it ? As for the gamma issue, maybe it has to do with the color profile used here "sRGB IEC61966-2.1 ( linear )" ? for ...
