XMP metadata not shown in png

The properties box for png files only shows the iptc data, but not xmp. Standard-wise, this is the exact wrong way 'round, as iptc isn't meant to be there (but works fine with exiftool), but xmp or legacy png tags are the official way.

Suggestion/Bug: Please add the xmp tab to png files.

Support XMP metadata in browser

In the browser details, you can only select from a fixed list of iptc & exif metadata variables. However, XnViewMP is able to display most xmp metadata in the image "Properties" just fine, so obviously the toolkit is there w/o calling exiftool. XMP is becoming more important as esp. the move from th...

Re: Random slideshow gets stuck (0.72)

are you able to reproduce it with 3 images? Good debugging idea! I've got 3 images 1.jpg, 2.jpg and 3.jpg... 1. View 1.jpg and start slideshow - keeps switching a few times between 2.jpg and 3.jpg, 1.jpg is never to be seen again. That's probably the "big" bug that makes the show getting stuck: The...

Re: Random slideshow gets stuck (0.72)

do you have a lot of files in this folder? No, not at all - I can reproduce this reliably even with a very small amount of files. But my laptop is rather slow to begin with and has crawling hard disk speed if other programs are active, if this helps. Probably one things that's a pita to debug if it...

"One instance of program only" hangs XnViewMP

Sometimes XnViewMP doesn't seem to be able to detect if there's an instance already open, hanging the programs with multiple "xnview.exe" processes stuck in the task manager. The only way to resolve this is to kill all tasks manually. This *seems* to occur esp. when the computer is busy, and my lapt...

Re: Duplicate finder

My image library has many, many duplicate images in it. I'd like to remove some, but it is hard because other image duplicate finders dont know which ones I have tagged or not. It would be nice if there was a build in function to allow us to find duplicate images in our library, and see which one h...

"Rename all" on copy/move

The copy/move image comparison dialog has "Replace all" and "Skip all", but for reasons unknown is missing "Rename all". However, this is a valid choice if you want to copy/move a bulk of images into an existing directory *quickly* and really don't care about dupes. See my other ticket "skip dupes" ...

Detect dupes on copy/move

On copy/move, XnViewMP doesn't detect at all if the image already in place is an exact duplicate and let's the user compare even if it would take a computer a few nanoseconds to to that. This is annoying when it occurs often like when having downloaded a bulk of images from the web with a bot and th...

0.72: Random slideshow gets stuck

When I play a slideshow with "random" and "loop on the file list", after some images it gets stuck and the images don't change anymore. The "quick slideshow button" on the toolbar is still "pressed down", and the only way to re-start the slideshow is to click it twice - so this appears to be a real ...

Req: Embedded raw preview *if* available

As a lot of Adobe users, I have converted my raw files to .dng - and this format allows you to chose if you want to embed a jpeg preview or not. Current behavior : if you choose "Camera RAW, use: embedded preview" dng files w/o preview display an unusable 256x171 thumbnail. On the other hand, if you...

Re: Photog's requirement: multiple caching & xmp tagging

you have options>View>Cache Yes, but that's only reading *one* image into the cache, the same goes for XnViewMP. Other programs manage to pre-load many more images if the memory is available. This does make a big difference for slower computers and/or larger images. If you ponder on one shot a bit,...

Photog's requirement: multiple caching & xmp tagging

XnView has become my favorite picture viewer/browser, but unfortunately now that I do a lot of photography two features are sorely missing. I hope something can be added, surely I'm not the only one looking to quickly browse through heaps of raw/dng files from the camera using the embedded thumbnail...
