Re: 0.88: File modification date not set after edit

It's not the case for all users.... Maybe. To me the file creation date is a fixed date which no-one (OS or application) should ever change. If you offer a setting to change the file creation date, keep in mind that this might/should also affect the EXIF creation date. Thanks for your excellent wor...

Re: 0.88: File modification date not set after edit

So i need to add 2 new settings: ... - don't touch creation date Pierre, I don't see any need for such a setting. You should NEVER touch the creation date unless you create a new file. So i need to add 2 new settings: - update EXIF modified date ... In my opinion the EXIF modification date should g...

0.88: EXIF image sizes not updated after change

XnView: MP 0.88 - Linux 64-bit OS: Ubuntu 16.04 Effect: EXIF width and height fields are not updated after edit A lossless transformation from the browser tab correctly exchanges image width and height in EXIF. A 90° rotation from an image view tab however does not change the previous EXIF width and...

Re: 0.88: File modification date not set after edit

Crop or Rotate with save? Pierre, I updated to 0.88 and did some tests with an arbitrary JPG photo on Ubuntu 64bit: from the browser tab: change IPTC data, lossless rotate from an image tab: rotate 90° and save, rotate 45° and save, crop and save, filter emboss and save These are my findings (three...

0.88: browser tab menu lost

XnView: MP 0.88 - Linux 64-bit OS: Ubuntu 16.04 Effect: browser tab menu lost after image view If you open any image and close the image window, the browser tab loses its menu. To reproduce: 1. Open MP with just the browser tab open. Check that the menu is there. 2. Double-click on any image to open...

Re: 0.87: File modification date not set after edit

It was like that in XnView Classic, a default for many users Maybe. Doesn't look right to me. Anyway, what about the other issue in my post: Applying a filter, however, just like cropping or rotating is ALWAYS a change you want to see in both image and file system metadata. Keeping the date under t...

Re: 0.87: File modification date not set after edit

what do you have in Settings>General>File operations - Keep original date/time? Hi Pierre, sorry for the delay in responding, I was out of town. All three options in "Keep original date/time" are set (which must be the default). However, applying a filter is neither a metadata change, nor a lossles...

0.87: File modification date not set after edit

tested with 0.87 x64 (Ubuntu): Open any image, use Image->Filter for any arbitrary change, go to next file. The "Save changed file" dialog appears, click Save. The "Do you want to overwrite" dialog appears, confirm with OK. Modified image is saved as it should. Now check the file dates: - in XnView:...

Re: 0.85: File modified date not set at Save As

By default, XnView MP keeps the original date/time even when saving or applying other transformations. If you don't want this behaviour ... Helmut (and Pierre): May I suggest to rethink the whole behaviour regarding dates in metadata. There are various dates saved either in the image file (EXIF, XM...

Re: 0.85: File modified date not set at Save As

you should uncheck for lossless transformations Sorry, Pierre, I don't understand your statement. I accept that if I take any image, open it and save it to maybe a different format or a different location, then I may want to keep the original metadata. But as soon as I modify the image, e.g. rotate...

All setting are default, thus checked.
It shouldn't matter here, though. The image is modified (cropped), so the "modified date" should be updated and not kept.

0.85: File modified date not set at Save As

Using 0.85 Linux 64bit I was wondering about a wrong display sequence in Browser when sorting is set to "Date" - "Descending". Looking at the file details it seems that "Modified date" is not correctly set during Save As. Try this: Take any existing image. Mine was created April 7 as an JPG. Open th...

Re: 0.64 Send image via email - text part

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.66 or later. Could you please try and confirm the bug fix, dietmar? Helmut, as there's now an option "Use default client", this is all I need. I don't need (and want to) put the SMPT login into XnView. The auto-generated email look fine in the cli...

Re: 0.72 Resizing problem

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.75 or later. Could you please try and confirm the bug fix, dietmar? Nope. In MP 0.84 x64 I still see this: - open any image - resize using preset 800x600, keep aspect ratio - works. - undo - snip image to half width, full height - resize using <la...
