Photo Rotates after Cropping

are you on Mac too? Pierre, this isn't a Mac-only problem. It happens on Linux as well. Like the other users I'm seeing this happen every now and then. I haven't been able to pinpoint down the exact circumstances when it happens and why. It just happened with these images yesterday. To the left is ...

Re: XnView MP 0.90

currently the 32bits versions are not downloaded a lot, so only 0.89 I understand. You should add a note to the website which says "Download 0.90". And while I understand that other versions are more important, keep in mind that re-using old 32-bit computers is a main reason for using Linux. Thanks...

'Change color depth' has the same options in batch convert as in dialog. So a background color selection would be needed for both.

I'm not sure if an ordinary user will understand that saving as JPG implicitly does Change Color Depth to 24-bits, though.

Re: What color becomes a transparent area when saved to a non-alpha format?

In my opinion there should be an option somewhere (file format settings maybe?) to let the user select a background color for transparent images. I support Dietmar's request. Isn't better to use 'change color depth', and add a background color (when converting in 24bits)? Could be. GIMP has a simpl...

Re: What color becomes a transparent area when saved to a non-alpha format?

:bugconfirmed: Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem . Which brings back my original question: "What color becomes a transparent area when saved to non-alpha format?" If you now correctly merge the alpha channel instead of removing it, there are still multiple options. Giv...

Re: What color becomes a transparent area when saved to a non-alpha format?

could you post one of each? Pierre, if you take the PNG from my original post, you'll see that the top and bottom parts become black while the center parts become white. If I remember correctly, this is how I had the image in GIMP before making the outer region transparent. Thus it looks as if this...

What color becomes a transparent area when saved to a non-alpha format?

Hi Pierre, I have a bunch of PNGs which need to become JPGs. Many of these PNGs have transparent areas. JPG doesn't know transparency, so the transparent areas must be colored somehow. Could you please explain the algorithm used to decide which color is used? I have some PNGs the transparent backgro...

Wish: Save dialog should show existing files independent of case

Hi Pierre, when you save_as a file to e.g. JPG, all existing JPGs in the selected folder are shown so you can select one to overwrite or select one to modify the name. However, at least on Linux, only some of the existing JPGs are shown. Given a folder having some JPGs with the extension .jpg and so...

Wish: Remove extension from filename when saving to different format

Hi Pierre, if you open a file, e.g. something.png, and then save_as with having the file type selection set to e.g. JPG, MP correctly adds the .jpg extension. It does not remove the .png extension, though. This gave me a lot of files called something.png.jpg or the like. It's common practice to remo...

Re: Wrong thumbnails

Pierre, I had also noticed that there's a cache or overflow problem with operations that change a lot of files (and their database records). I wasn't able to reproduce, so I didn't report. But the effect was similar to the original poster's message. In my case I think it was batch renaming thousands...

0.88: strange color effect when overlaying PNG in batch convert

XnView: MP 0.88 - 64 bit OS: Ubuntu 16.04 64bit Pierre, this is a strange effect I'm having with batch convert when trying to overlay a mostly transparent PNG. The original image is mostly red. I overlay a transparent PNG. The resulting image is mostly blue. Effect: Color change when overlaying tran...

Re: 0.88: File modification date not set after edit

It's not the case for all users.... Maybe. To me the file creation date is a fixed date which no-one (OS or application) should ever change. If you offer a setting to change the file creation date, keep in mind that this might/should also affect the EXIF creation date. Thanks for your excellent wor...
