Canvas size-like selection menu

http://i43.tinypic.com/imkuqa.png I've highlighted the feature I'm referring to in colour red. The "Y and "X" values for the current "Custom selection" menu are very precise, but this method (which obviously should be alternative and not a replacement) would be quicker than calculating, say, the ve...

Create Webpage: Truncate long filenames

1. If the name of an image is too long (e.g. 78456854823476239759714571095674691834592475627485602.jpg) the layout will break resulting in abnormally large thumbnail cells, consequently annoying horizontal scrollbars will appear at the bottom if the screen resolution isn't big enough. For instance, ...

Horizontally squashed PCX image

This 320x200 image looks horizontally squashed once opened even though it's previewed correctly from the "Open picture" menu.

Absolute channel removal

I can't seem to effectively remove color channels from an image using the maximum negative value allowed by the "Colour balance" tool (-100) on a single pass, and at this point I'm not sure how many it would take assuming it's actually possible. In the examples shown below I tried to remove the red ...

Number of colours after conversion to JPEG2000

Is it normal... ...that any image losslessy converted to "JP2 - JPEG-2000 JP2 File Format" (LuraWave's works just fine) reports a different number of colors, histogram and CRC even when at first sight they look basically the same?

Zoom position lock

When I'm comparing different pictures for details, I use zoom and move the picture to a certain position to compare that particular section of the image, but when I switch among them (spacebar-backspace), the focus is lost and the next/previous picture returns to XnView's default, despite zoom being...

1016 1111 I just ran a test making a PNG with Xnview, then using the PNGout standalone prog to compress it further: XNview: 1,111 bytes. http://allspark.net/cypherswipe/woody-tarXNtest.png PNGout recompressed: 1,016 bytes (nearly a 10% savings). http://allspark.net/cypherswipe/woodyXNPO1.png The or...

With a good export feature I can't really see a need for the manual reduction of colours. But thats only a personal reflection, I suspect that there are lots of folks using this for different reasons. I use dithered color conversion on regular basis and I need to see what the picture ends up lookin...
