Re: Not all PNG files are recognized as valid PNG

Used to work for me. Both files do load and animation runs with 1.96 ... but with 1.99.1 the black one is not recognized "format could not be determined" ... regression in XN or the APNG is invalid :-(

Re: Broken displaying of optimized PNG files

> Ok, these images use alpha channel with 8bits pictures, XnView can't read them So it's a known issue (haven't we seen this already in the forum???) and NC/XN's PNG support is incomplete. The largest PNG is "c6" RGBA (OK for NC/XN) while the 2 smaller are "c4" YA (bad luck for NC/XN). > And can it ...

Re: Broken displaying of optimized Alphaized PNG files

YES I can confirm this :bug: ... examples do have Alpha (!!!) and show well in Opera, but are broken in XN 1.70.3 , 1.98.7 and 1.99.1. Converting those PNG's into BMP with NC also produces garbage. BTW, if I unoptimize them with PNGOUT /force and enable Alpha in XN, then they do show well. Note that...

Re: True-Color GIF

It won't stay still at XNview and always repeats. It must be still, you can see it here > Anyway the OP has a good point in that it seems only web browsers are aware of this gif hack. BTW, I can see an animation too, using Opera, nothing "still". Conclusion: don't use "true-color-GIF-miracles", use...

I'd recommend MUPDF for PDF to PNG "conversion". I don't use GS myself.

Alternatively, use PDFDRAW tool from MUPDF :-)

Vorbis is the audio codec, Theora would be the video codec usually used in OGG files.

Re: -crop dimension limit?

Does NConvert have a limit to what it can crop? I doubt it'd be the latter, as 10,000 px isn't very large Note that 10'000 px x 10'000 px needs 286 MiB just to be stored ... depending from NC's internal memory management, it may need more than the double amount of memory to process your request. Bu...

Re: WebP support

I downloaded some binaries from "Nov 17" ... authors don't offer a single lossless file themselves!!! (there are a few lossy ones, finally). I started it ... no result ... either it hangs or it's too slow (PNGOUT was done after few s with same image). OK, got a result, only with -c 0 2x bigger then ...

NC 5.90/5.91 (2011-05-11) and 6.05 (2012-02-23)

http://www.xnview.com/en/download_nc.html I see the Win32 and Win64 versions updated ... could you update the DOS32 version too please? BTW, do you plan some major updates soon (native WebP, 8->16bppc, BUG: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=24760, rename "-wmfile" into "-watrmk", native ad...

Re: WebP support

would be good if WebP and WebM as now added to the XnView 'Formats' website page http://xnview.com/en/formats.html WebP is already there (but fails to mention that only by plugin, and how far this includes the later lossless and transy flavor, or not). WebM is a video format and NC/XN doesn't suppo...

YES. Native WebP support: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=24246

WebP is C-code (good) and BSD-license (good). OTOH native JPEG-2000 is rather impossible.

The preferred colorspace is sRGB anyway, not pow(unpredictable random value).

EMF/WMF SVG WebP support

Interest is not that big but I'm "upgrading" this into a request to add native support of:

- EMF / WMF (some (only EMF ?) open source code exists LGPL2)

- SVG (format is open, code unknown)

- WebP (good (?) code exists BSD) http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=20962
