MPLAYER

MPlayer's decoding of h.264 is faster in recent builds.
I prefer slower decoding without "illegal instruction" usage ... :bug:

Palette related bugs

:bug: There are some palette related bugs in 1.90 beta 2, partially already in 1.82.4: - "Edit colormap" is "grey'ed out" in some cases when it shouldn't be, re-converting image to a palettized model workarounds it :bug: - "Autocrop" and "Canvas size" do not work correctly for palettized images, nee...

trying to create a thumbnail in ver 1.61
Anything prevents you from using 1.82.4 ? :? :? :? :?

"Image" -> "Resize" for 1.82.4, no idea about 1.61.

PNGOUT

how do you shrink the file size of a picture? Use PNGOUT (for PNG images only). It reduces file size by factor up to cca 1.3 against a PNG saved by XNVIEW. Accepts PNG, GIF, PCX or BMP as input. Also, reduce number of colours before compressing (this is a lossy act): start with 256 and try even les...

Hidden :-(

Not hidden folders??
I also know this bug :bug:, just can't confirm that XNVIEW is ALSO affected.

Nevertheless: XNVIEW should take and show ALL files and ALL directories, and
NOT skip the "hidden" ones, and even less give up when first "hidden"
item is reached in the directory.

RE: status bar is already quite long and crowded

http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/5343/ala8.png Idea: Place info about the file into the bar as done, but remove it as soon as an edit on the file occurs. In this case, such "info" is NOT useful, even more it is confusing. In shot above, the file size (red arrow) still refers to the original JPG i...

NCONVERT

Ok, i'll update nconvert soon...
And the DOS version ... using OPENWATCOM 1.3 compiler (1.4 and 1.5 seem
to be unfortunately broken on DOS target) and DOS/32A extender.

Thanks. :)

JPG is lossy ?

The best program was Uwe Herklotz UHIC. Unfortunately, this "UHIC" does not even have an official download page. What this long trolling discussion shows is that you should not create a JPG, drop the original BMP and publish the JPG, then uncompress this back to a BMP, publish this BMP and ... fina...

Coordinates and colour info

http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/3010/xnnj0.png The newest Alpha shows the coordinates in the info line. :) Would it be possible to place the COLOUR info also there ? For truecolour images the RGB value (HEX occupies only 6 characters), for palettized images the palette index. The flag glueing on...

Video editor

Do you think that it will be good to have that?? (video convert) NO. One would have to include all the codecs into XNView, and this would increase the complexity and size (and number of bugs :bug:) of XNView by factor 10. The well-designed well-working program of reasonable download size, working o...
