Yes , in the browser mode , at the list of folders that is,
the field where the thumbs are displayed and the preview-field
does have the ability to rename the image,
and is working properly !

Re: [1.96.1] Windows 7 RC x64: F2 Key/right click folder rename
I can confirm this behaviour , I have the same build, also for 64 bit,
I though may be this has to do something with permissions,
but the same happens whe you start Xnview with administrator rights !!

Re: Resizing images
I found a strange bug in the resize-option: when I resize a JPG file the image looks rather smooth, however when I try to resize the same file (but in this case converted into PNG format with the same pixel-dimensions using XNVIEW for windows) the image looks very "quantisized" with a large amount o...

unable to open SUN raster file
I have found a bug in XNVIEW, not allowing me to open & display a black/white SUN raster file, possibly due to the fact that is has strange dimensions: its width is 22368 yet its heigth is only 6 pixels. Paint Shop Pro does show the image, so I think it is some kind of limitation of XNVIEW (1.96.1) ...

Re: Recommendations to reduce file size?
I am not an expert at all using nconvert, so this is a guess: nconvert -out jpeg -o % -rtype lanczos -rflag orient -ratio -resize 50% 50% -q 80 *.jpg As you can see , only the resize parameters are different and the sizing algorithm is set to Lanczos (this one is generally taken to be the best). Goo...

Re: Recommendations to reduce file size?
wouldn't it be better to just scale the number of pixels down to 50% or so,
for both dimensions, giving a 4 times smaller image,
JPEG compression would probably make it some 3 x times smaler file-size I guess,
just the right size PGR wants it to be !!'

Re: Seeing IPTC keywords in detail mode
Hello Speeddevil, there is an alternative: Go to options/view/fullscreen and checkmark the option "show information", in the field below you can add all the (IPTC) items you want from the metadata. Next thing to do is to set the "show information" flag in the the view submenu. Too bad this flag isn'...

Re: Problem with Search function (Ctrl-F)
Pierre, there seem to be a lot more of these errors, especially if one combines a few items (eg. file size bigger then .. AND format equal to ... AND EXIF ISO equal to ... AND IPTC caption equal to ... ) In the latter case the IPTC caption doesn't filter out anything, regardless what you fill in in ...

Re: req better histograms, highlights
gray one is the RGB combined. Yes, ofcourse, question is what the gray curve is supposed to be, if it is the luminance then generally the formula: RGB Luminance value = 0.3 R + 0.59 G + 0.11 B is used, (see: http://www.scantips.com/lumin.html ) but that is not at all what I see looking at the histo...

Re: req better histograms, highlights
another improvement would be to (optionally) use a logarithmic scale for the number of grayscale-values. Also a cursor which can move around along the (or one of the) histogram-curves showing the number or percentage of greyscale-values that are present in the image for the selected greyscale I also...

use photoshop.
