XnView 1.98 does not always open TIFF files correctly...

I had been running 1.96.2 for two years. Works fine and is stable. Downloaded 1.98 today and find that sometimes it does not open large tiff files correctly. The result of loading a large tiff file is difficult to explain -- it just is a series of vertical colored lines and is different each time it...

I've installed the paint plugin and it seems to work.

Question: How do I change the background color?

The default color for painting is black. I have several all black
images that I use for splash screens. How do I change the background
color so I can see the boundary's of the image?

Re: Fuji RAF to TIFF conversion.

When I convert a Fuji RAF (RAW) file to TIFF, the TIFF file is frequently sufferes a levels conversion. Either it is darker or lighter than the TIFF image should be. I know this because I have converted Fuji RAF files with s7raw (a Fuji RAF converter program) and compared the results with NConvert'...

Please integrate .8BF plugins into batch processing.

There is a wonderful little piece of software called PTLens: http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/ "PTLens is Windows software that corrects lens pincushion/barrel distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberration, and perspective. PTLens is available as a standalone application and Photoshop plug-in." It works...

Brightness changes -- and levels adjustment.

I also see brightness (levels) changing when I convert from Fuji RAF to TIFF. I thought this was a problem specific to the RAF -> TIFF conversion but the previous post suggests that it is a more general problem. I think that XnView/XnConvert are trying to be too sophisticated and helpful in the conv...

Thanks Helmut,

Your reply gave me all the information I needed to successfully install PTLens

.8BF plugins

I'm told that XnView supports the .8BF plugin interface used by Photoshop. I'm told that PTLens has an .8BF plugin and that XnView supports the PTLens plugin -- http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/ I read your General Support forum and there is conflicting information about how and where to install plugin...

XnView lightens an image that I don't want lightened.

A Fuji RAF file -- I convert it to TIFF and rotate 90 degrees counter clockwise. The image then becomes much much lighter. I don't want it to become much, much lighter. It's part of a panoramic sequence and if it becomes lighter, it no longer fits into the sequence. How do I tell XnView that it's do...

Can I extract or convert the frames of a .mov file?

I would like to extract or convert a .mov file to a jpg equirectangular file. Converting to equirectangular might be beyond XnView's scope. But I thought I read somewhere that .mov files could be operated on. When I open a .mov file. It seems to load then I see one frame -- then a whole bunch of fla...

I'm of the opinion that for raw, high resolution should be inverted: Full resolution should be the default, and low resolution should be optional. Is it because full is slower that it's not default? (This is the sort of thing I think an overall system preset would solve: selecting high quality or h...

Need more explicit control over cropping...

Your existing crop capability is good for many images. But it is very difficult to use on large images with irregular boundries like the kind of image one gets when stitching panoramas. Stitched panoramas frequently have wavy borders and can be generally misshapen. For example, I'm working on a 6000...

Batch Convert -> Batch Processing...

Batch Convert should be Batch Processing -- or just Batch. If you are doing bunch of images, why try to catagorize what you are doing to the bunch of images. Just do the bunch of images... That makes more sense. I convert and do some image processing at the same time. But the problem I saw was that ...
