I guess I have found the problem. If you add the option -m while accessing EXIFTOOLS, everything should work flawlessly.

Just by chance I discovered, that I could not update files with the command line of EXIFTOOL, because it could not read hidden data.

Seems to be a problem.

There must have been something you have changed or modified. Looks like a switch that is not reset after the first use of the EXIFTool.

It's so strange, that after a restart the first use of the tool displays everything correctly and without a glitch, but not the next files.

Yes, same problem as before. Just thought it would be solved with a new release.

The issue is for all file formats: .NEF, .ARW, .TIFF, .TIF, .JPG.

The old problem persists.
When I start XnView MP, select a thumbnail, click EXIFTool, all variables are displayed:

But when I select another thumbnail, the EXIFTool veriables are chopped off ...

How can I sort images in the thumbnail viewer by focal length?

OK, downloaded version 1.7.2 and installed it. Same problem.

Ran Disk Utility:
Running First Aid on “Macintosh HD” (disk2s2)
The volume /dev/rdisk2s2 appears to be OK.
File system check exit code is 0.
Restoring the original state found as mounted.

Operation successful.

-> There is no problem on ...

Just downloaded and installed 1.8.1. Nope, same result as with 1.8.2.

However, maybe this helps:

When I start XnView 1.8.1 and select a TIFF, the Exif data are displayed, even the Exiftool version 10.98.

But as soon as I select a different TIFF, there are only 2 entries displayed in the panel ...

The last working version was from summer this year. I'll try 1.8.1 today.

exiftool 12.99 runs perfectly on this Mac, just in case you might think it won't work:

But as you can see in the screenshot, it is only part of the EXIF file in the panel on the left.

Re-install XnView? I don't want to damage my image database.
