Re: How to Auto Crop Transparent space?

I get the following result with these settings: Screenshot .png But I have always found 'Automatic crop' difficult to understand, and in other XnView software have sometimes had to use surprisingly large tolerance values. In the above image with those settings I don't see the expected cropping to th...

Re: Reducing resolution of DIN A4 PDF file while maintaining paper size

I have reviewed your posts, given more thought to the issues raised, and think I know have a better understanding of both why you have been having a problem, and how you might be able to more easily obtain the results you need. If I understand correctly, you have been using the 'Resize' action with ...

Re: Reducing resolution of DIN A4 PDF file while maintaining paper size

What I need so that we can make progress is a file representative of the files you are *starting* with: if you are unable to supply one of your actual files, please create a file with the same properties in one of the ways I suggested above. If we both start with the same file, it should be possible...

Thanks, possibly a bit hidden and complex if one only wants to change the DPI.

The Image menu isn't overloaded, so a separate Set DPI action might be a useful addition?

Re: Reducing resolution of DIN A4 PDF file while maintaining paper size

Ok, but are you sure this changes the PDF paper size? On my system, it does not. :( My test image files had a size of 10"x10" as those were easy dimensions to test, since DPI is expressed in Dots Per Inch. The properties of my output 10"x10" (254x254mm) PDF file with a reduced filesize display as f...

Re: Tips on scanning and organising large collection of family photos

My first tip would be to try to keep your posts as concise as possible, as more people are likely to read them! While you might get some advice on this forum on scanning or photographing the originals, in general the emphasis is on enhancing and organising photograph collections. And the sad reality...

Reducing image filesize without changing the print size (Draft)

The basic method reduces the source image filesize by reducing the image pixel dimensions by a specified factor: for the Resize action, setting 50% for the height and width reduces the total number of pixels to 25% of the starting value, reducing the filesize. The original 'print' size is then resto...

Re: Reducing resolution of DIN A4 PDF file while maintaining paper size

I've checked and as stated above changing an image's DPI value (using the XnConvert Image > Set DPI action) changes the image's 'print' dimensions without changing the image's pixel dimensions... :D Print size = Pixel dimensions x DPI For example, an image with height and width both equal to 1000px ...

Re: Frozen on start

You have found a solution which works for you... :D

But you should be able to find the xnview.ini location from Tools > Settings... > Integration -- Paths tab, and also open the directory from there.

Re: Reducing resolution of DIN A4 PDF file while maintaining paper size

The tool should not touch the real image resolution, or at least it should offer an option to just set the dpi without touching the amount of pixels. You've looked at the Image > Set DPI action, have you? That changes the DPI value without changing the number of pixels. To be useful that would prob...

Re: Reducing resolution of DIN A4 PDF file

What I do not understand: The settings for PS/PDF say: Page size A4. But XnConvert seems to ignore that. PDF A4.gif A possible bug -- Pierre? Sometimes I get very large colour image based PDF files and I would like to reduce image resolution without changing papersize. The action "Resize" in mode "...

Re: XNView MP opens, but crashes with Win10 x64

I downloaded and loaded the new XnView MP program. I then opened the Tools-Integration-Config files-but was led to a list of folders in my C drive, but not directly to a .ini file. Where do I go from here? You should see a file xnview.ini, have you had a good look around following the instructions ...

Re: R-Click displays unexpected context menu

On a hunch I have tried something and found the problem: When I started using my Windows 7 computer after a long break, I soon remembered that the mouse I had used before often output two clicks instead of one, which had been a pain, frequent sudden changes to full screen, for example. So I changed ...
