Re: Build "cleaner" Debian packages

+1 Disclaimer: I know nothing about packaging. And +1 especially for using already-installed ExifTools. (A while ago I spent some time trying to 'hack' this, but gave up - but I really wanted to use the current version of ExifTools instead of the ancient one included in the package). I'd also appre...

Re: Features needed - IPTC templates conversion

Traveling in India right now... shortly before I left, I loaded the .deb file of XnViewMP on my netbook (running CrunchBang), as well as a load of IPTC template files I had saved in the Windows version, with lots of data I would like to reuse. XnViewMP installed and runs just fine (with some minor n...

Re: IPTC: Updating XMP destroys some of it

John, I'm not asking for an immediate solution. I know one-man shows need sleeptime as well. :) But I know Pierre has been on the forum and replied to some posts since I posted my report. All I would like to see is acknowledgement that this is, indeed, a bug. It looks as though it's just being ignor...

Re: IPTC: Updating XMP destroys some of it

I am surprised, and rather disappointed, that even after a whole week (during which I can see 'xnview' has been active non the forum), there still has not even been an acknowledgement of my serious bug report. :( Destroying existing contact information in a file is not something that should happen a...

Rationale for 'must fix': important existing meta data is destroyed.

IPTC: Updating XMP destroys some of it

Hello, I'm a long-time user and fan of XnView, but unfortunately I now have a problem to report. I have started to add IPTC data (and other meta data) to my photographs. My strategy for this is: use Phil Harvey's ExifTool for 'bulk' operations, such as location and creator data which can be added a ...
