0.84 Linux: Severe bug: photo overwritten without warning

Post by rmtk »

To reproduce the bug:
1. add photos 2.jpg, 3.jpg,... into a folder
2. open and edit 2.jpg in Xnview browser
3. add 1.jpg into the folder using your file manager
4. save 2.jpg in Xnview browser.
You will see 2.jpg saved as 1.jpg and the original 1.jpg being overwrited and lost permanently.

Fortunately I have a backup of my lost photo in my camera, but I think this bug should be fixed asap.

I'm using Ubunte Mate 16.10 64bit. It seems that the bug does not affect Windows version.

for step 3,
if you paste 1.jpg with XnviewMP browser, the 2.jpg will be immediatly renamed to 1.jpg in viewer. very strange.

Thank you for reporting this problem, rmtk. Loosing photos is a severe problem which should be fixed soon. Unfortunately, only few users here have Linux or MacOS, so reproducing and feedback might take a while.

@Pierre: Could you please look into this?

Yes. There must be something wrong in my configuration. The problem doesn't occur for a clean installation.
I sent you the xnview.ini
