0.82: Sort order not saved and restored

Post by Harribo »

Hi

I have used this software for very long now but one thing I cannot solve. I have this problem for years now and I could not find the time to solve this until now.
I checked all the forums and the internet but nowhere found a solution.

My problem is simple:
Every time I start XnViewMP is sorts the filelist in the current directory on Date/Descending.
But I really want to start with the filelist already sorted on Name/Ascending.

In the browser I can see 2 sorting icons, each use the same sort options list. I can change the sort, no problem.
But....it seems that this is nowhere saved. Next time I start MP is sorts again on Date/Descending.

I checked the options and it states that MP uses the xnview.ini in the application folder.
Ok, I check the xnview.ini file and searched for Sort.
I found 2 hits in [Browser]:

Code: Select all

[Browser]
viewAs=6
sort=4
sortOrder=1
I changed the sort=4 to sort=1. But it did not matter.
Ok so how can I save the sort order so that when I restart MP, this sort order is displayed??

ps. I use windows 7 64bit
ps2. I open MP by clicking a jpg, so it often starts with the viewer , but also when I click the MP executable this does not work

could you try to use xnview.ini in 'user (system)'?

I have did that. First it did not work, second time it did.

I dont know what caused this and I dont know what I have done to solve this.
I deleted sometimes the ini file.
I remember that I use old ini files to restore my settings. Maybe there is something with write rights then?
Very strange, but I have solved it now.

Thanks
Although I dont have the idea that this save and restoring to the ini file goes perfect on the whole
