Copy and paste works when pasting IN a directory in the browser, but when pasting ON a directory (without entering it), the paste does not occur, and there are no errors.

Is Allow pasting to selected subfolder (Tools » Options... » File List » Misc.) activated?

I would like the behaviour of pasting to be different when using the mouse or the keyboard like in Windows Explorer:

When the folder tree has the focus, pasted files will always be moved into the selected folder.

When the browser pane has the focus, pasting with the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+V" moves files into the currently displayed folder, even if a subfolder is selected.

When right-clicking with the mouse on a folder and selecting "Paste", the files will be moved into the clicked folder.

So there should be two options, or the option should only affect pasting with the keyboard as follows:

[ ] Keyboard paste in the browser pane moves files into the selected subfolder

The default should be off.

Tested with XnView v2.33 (2015-06-18) on Windows 7 64 bit SP1.

I tested this again today, and it does indeed work correctly now.

Thank you for your feedback and confirmation that this does work properly, badon.

Note:
I wondered why this setting isn't activated by default and tried out the behaviour of Windows Explorer on Windows XP and Windows 10: When selecting a subfolder in the file list (not the folder tree!) then pasting the clipboard creates copies of the images in the current directory (and not in the selected subfolder). To me that's quite surprising and not what I'd have expected. So XnView's standard behaviour in this szenario is similar to Windows Explorer, which is o.k.
