Linux Mint - what should I know?

Hi.
Have some older computers, but still working that has XP installed. Since virtually all programs also stop supporting XP, I'll migrate to Linux.
I had some expectation that there was a thread regarding using XnView for Linux under faq, but not. Therefore I want to ask this, as I'm used to XnView for windows: What should I know when using XnView for Linux?
Is there some distros that won't support XnView?
Would the Linux-version of XnView be crippled in some or another way compared to the version running on Windows? Will there be some file extension not supported under Linux?
Thanks
