Ok.
But what about "AND"?
From what I understand there is no simple equivalent to it in RegEx.
Is there a way to do it in a 'fairly simple' way?
Why can't the program be made to support both RegExp and Boolean, aren't there others programs that do?
Thanks

Basic, Intuitive Searching/Find? How about it?
I want to search for terms in a filename, such as any files that contain the
word "red" or the term "736"
How would I do this?
I tried "red OR 736" in simple search and messed around with some things in advanced search/find
but got nothing as I wanted it.

Re: Copy/Move to
Both seem fine. The only thing would be how a Folder/Directory is defined. If Copy/Move to refers to a folder/dir. as well, and one were to see folders as something different than a file, it would seem inappropriate to place under "File". However, if you define folders/directories as nothing more th...

Re: Putting Files into the Catalog?
Yes, the search aspect also works if I choose the root folder. But like I said, I don't use a single root and won't always know/remember where the images I'm looking for are. So, the issue is with choosing the drive. Is there a single root to all your images? Have you tried it by choosing just the d...

Re: Putting Files into the Catalog?
I've tried, and cache is used. If you cache each of you folders before, do you have same problem when using 'show in subfolder'? I cached the "entire" D:\ drive which appears to have cached all individual folders. Why would I need to do them separately? That would be painstaking. Slower than when y...

Re: Putting Files into the Catalog?
I put the images into cache and the results are just "shrug" at this point. I have 2 issues. 1. I'm a big fan of the "show files in subfolder" feature. If I click on the drive letter that my images are in, to show all of my images at once, it slowly loads the images with progress/percentage bar at t...

Re: Putting Files into the Catalog?
I think I've found the answer here viewtopic.catalog+scan#p134680.
I've got another question I'm thinking of, but this will probably answer it. I'll test it out.

Putting Files into the Catalog?
Is there a certain step(s) you take to scan files into the catalog or does the program
automatically do that when opening folders/files?

Re: Import Categories List?
Thank You!!!
Me so happy now
I've pretty much halted production on XnView, trying to get this resolved (have an extensive categories system
I would like to implement).
I hope the new version is out fairly soon.
Thanks again

Re: Import Categories List?
Yes, sort of. Let me simplify. Here are the steps to take for testing. as example, 1. Create 6 parent categories with 5 subcategories under two of them, in XnView. 2. Export that list to a TXT file. Afterwards, the XnView category list is "not" cleared. 3. Open the text file and delete one of the pa...

Re: Import Categories List?
No. But it seems that's what one would have to do to make it work properly, which would be terrible and a waste of time.
Did you test out what I was saying in previous post?

Re: Import Categories List?
That's what I did, or how I approached it. It jumbled/copied some entries when reimporting back in after making a few additions/edits. It seems that if you have a list already created and you import to txt > edit txt file > then, re-import without clearing out the list that is still in XnView, it me...

Re: Import Categories List?
There are two objectives I was hoping for with the Import/Export feature, 1. To save/export a current cats list for backup (later import if needed). 2. To be able to work with building/editing a categories list outside of XnView, then importing/updating back into XnView. I thought I could do this wh...

Re: Images not displaying?
I could do that, but is there a way to open a ticket here? There isn't an official support, right (open tickets and such)?
Or, email to XnView direct?
